By taking the opportunity to become a shareholder in the Hillesley Community Pub Company Ltd (HCPL) you will be joining over 100 others who believe in preserving village pubs in general, and The Fleece in particular, at the heart of village life.
The company that owned the Fleece and many other pubs went into administration in October 2011. The pub then struggled under a series of temporary managers and closed after Easter 2012. Local people got together and formed HCPL. This company completed on a contract with the new owners of the Fleece to buy it for the community on 21st June 2012. The community, through the fantastic generosity of many of its members, has thus assured its ability to own and shape this important social hub in perpetuity.
HCLP was formed in order to acquire the Freehold to the Fleece Inn, and to manage the operation of the pub business, to ensure that the Fleece continues to be a vital social hub for the village and surrounding area. The company aims to attract investment mainly, but not exclusively, from residents of the village parish and surrounding area.
